Considering the load of increasing electricity consumption on the power grid due to the increasing AC usage during the summer season, Toroslar EDAŞ completed its grid maintenance works for the summer.
Toroslar Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. completed the majority of its grid maintenance works that the Company spared 61 million TL for the first half of the year to provide high-quality and uninterrupted electricity to its customers during the summer season.
The required elements were replaced and provided maintenance in Adana, Mersin, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kilis and Osmaniye following the increasing temperatures and in order to avoid any possible power failures due to the increasing electricity demand on the grid because of AC usage. Any unfavourable conditions that may result in breakdowns and interruptions were eliminated beforehand.
Hence, overhead line, building, lighting and other network inventories were provided maintenance; while the cells and buildings were cleaned. Furthermore, the remote-control systems for the cells were checked, and building renovation, substation maintenance, earthing rehabilitation works, as well as insulator replacements, substation stage checks, substation oil control and replacement works were carried out.
Insulator washers were used to wash the insulators that are close to the sea and are exposed to salt and humidity to avoid any possible power failures due to exposure to salt and humidity. Maintenance works were completed for approximately 1000-km-long HV overhead lines, 100-km-long LV overhead lines, 800 substations, 200 site distribution boxes (panels). A generator to feed a sub-province with approximately 15,000 population was included to the inventory.
While the load is regularly measured to be able to identify substation loads, a 2MVA HV generator with a capacity to feed a sub-province with 15,000 population and 3 mobile generators were purchased. All generators are on stand-by, provided maintenance and kept ready for any possible crises or emergencies.
Due to high humidity rates during the summer season, required works were carried out to replace porcelain insulators with silicone insulators in addition to insulation works, building renovations, substation maintenance, load control of substations with LV SCADA, earthing rehabilitation works, building, feeder connection points checks and improvements.
