Toroslar Elektrik Dağıtım Anonim Şirketi (Toroslar EDAŞ) protects birds from electric shocks with the electricity transmission line insulation project initiated in Adana, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kilis, Mersin and Osmaniye, where the Company provides service.
Toroslar EDAŞ initiated the "HV Aerial Line Insulation Project" in 2017 with the purpose to prevent birds from getting electric shocks from electricity distribution lines, particularly during the periods of increased bird migration.
Toroslar EDAŞ completed the installation works of the insulation materials at the related points of the electricity distribution lines, where the birds might endure electric shocks, in coordination with the Doğa Derneği (Nature Association). The project was invested approximately 500,000 TL.
Insulated the dangerous components of distribution line elements including insulators, jumpers, conductors, etc., Toroslar EDAŞ has managed to reduce bird fatalities due to electric shocks and related energy failures by 76 percent since 2017.
Upon the success of the project, the Company stores the related insulation materials and continues to use these materials both during maintenance works and the new lines to be installed.
