Toroslar EDAŞ prepared the electricity grid in Yeşilovacık, a touristic area in Silifke, Mersin, ready for the summer to avoid any possible power failures during the high season.
Toroslar EDAŞ completed its two-phase maintenance works in Yeşilovacık, a touristic area in Silifke, to prevent any possible breakdowns due to the record-breaking high temperatures and humidity levels during summer.
The first phase of the maintenance works, which were completed in two separate phases, i.e., Phase-1 and Phase-2, to provide uninterrupted energy to the area, included replacement of 353 silicone insulators on the MV lines feeding Yeşilovacık Neighbourhood, as well as the replacement of isolation switches with the silicone ones.
All substation and distribution buildings that provide energy to the region were provided maintenance and faulty components were replaced or repaired. Oğuzlar distribution hub that feed Yeşilovacık region was included to the SCADA system. Thus, the power failures in the region will also be responded remotely.
Comparing the year-on-year failure logging in the region for the first 5 months, the number of breakdowns and downtimes were observed to decrease by 36 percent and 53 percent, respectively.
On the other hand, Phase-2 maintenance works were also completed on a 20.6-km-long energy line covering Kır çiçeği exit, Selçuklar exit, Oğuzlar exit, Tisan exit. The phase included replacement of 681 insulators.
In order to prevent power failures due to high winds in the region, which mostly consists of overhead lines, “insulation rings” were installed on the MV lines at 134 locations. Thanks to these activities, contact-related malfunctions and temporary power failures from cables due to high winds will be avoided.
