TOROSLAR EDAŞ: “WE PUT ALL OUR EFFORTS IN RE-ENERGIZING WORKS”

Toroslar EDAŞ continues the re-energizing works 24/7 with 1,011 employees and hundreds of vehicles in the cities affected by the earthquake.

The statement of Toroslar Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. (Toroslar EDAŞ) is as follows:

“We, at Toroslar Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. (Toroslar EDAŞ), continue to carry out our re-energizing activities in Hatay, Gaziantep and Osmaniye, which are located in our area of responsibility, with the outstanding efforts of our employees, as there has been power outages due to earthquakes occurred.

In these difficult times, our employees, who reside in these cities and witnessed the devastating impacts of the earthquake together with their families and relatives, began working in the field within just a few hours following the first earthquake, with the awareness that energy is a vital requirement during disasters.

On the other hand, our teams and equipment from Başkent EDAŞ and Ayedaş, other Enerjisa Distribution Companies, set out with vehicles in accordance with our disaster plans, which were put into operation and directed by our coordination center.

While these efforts were ongoing, we welcomed the families of our employees in our headquarters and service buildings, and tried to contact our employees whom we could not get in touch with after the earthquake. Moreover, we began to establish container cities in our Logistics Service Centers, where our employees can accommodate with their families.

All resources mobilized in the field

Besides the 359 field employees of Toroslar EDAŞ, support teams consisting of 284 employees from Başkent EDAŞ and Ayedaş responded to outages in the regions affected by the earthquake. Furthermore, a total of 1,011 employees have been working in the field including the support teams of the contractor and other distribution companies.

Apart from the employees, 98 basket-platform boom vehicles (72 local and 26 support), 309 pick-up vehicles (226 local and 83 support), 48 cranes, 34 trailer trucks, 66 trucks (33 local and 33 support), 149 passenger vehicles (88 local and 61 support) participated in the efforts to repair the outages.

In addition to these vehicles, 606 generators (180 large and 426 smaller size) were put into service to supply electricity to locations that cannot be fed from the grid, and to support search and rescue efforts at nights. When the relevant locations are re-energized by the grid, these generators are transported to other locations. These generators are refueled by our employees from the fuel tanks provided by our company.

Critical areas energized

While we sustain our efforts 24/7, the utmost priority was to provide lighting and re-energize critical locations in order to ensure the continuity of search and rescue efforts. Locations that could not be supplied energy by the grid were re-energized by on-truck generators to provide lighting and re-energize critical locations such as hospitals. Lighting at the venues where search and rescue operations are ongoing is also supplied energy by generators.

On the other hand, although the repair works have already been completed, some areas could not be supplied electricity to avoid any safety risks. Hence, re-energizing operations in these research and rescue activities are carried out in line with the coordination established with the relevant public institutions.

In this regard, we would like to mention that our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost their lives and we hope the injured get well soon. We will pick up the pieces together and sustain our efforts to build a better future for our region.”
