In 1994, Turkish Electricity Authority (TEK) was restructured and divided into two separate Public Economic Enterprises; namely TEAŞ (Türkiye Elektrik Üretim İletim A.Ş. – Turkish Electricity Generation and Transmission Corporation) and TEDAŞ (Türkiye Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. – Turkish Electricity Distribution Company) with the decision of the Council of Ministers. In line with the decision of the Council of Ministers, TEDAŞ became a legal entity.
In 2005, the company continued its operations as “TOROSLAR ELEKTRİK DAĞITIM A.Ş.”, which consisted of Adana, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kilis, Mersin, Osmaniye Electricity Distribution Institutions.
On March 15, 2013, Enerjisa was awarded the tender for the acquisition of all shares of Toroslar EDAŞ, which supplied and distributed electricity to the Adana, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kilis, Mersin and Osmaniye provinces, with the highest bid of US $1,725 million and the procedure for acquisition of shares was completed on October 1, 2013.
Enabling access of 7.7 million people to electricity distribution at the Toroslar Electricity Distribution Region, Toroslar EDAŞ distributes approximately 13.8 tWh electricity over a distribution grid of 82,006 km long. The figure corresponds to 7.3% of total electricity consumption in Turkey.
Chronology
- 1970 - Turkish Electricity Authority (TEK) was established pursuant to the law no. 1312; and TEK was assigned to carry out generation, transmission, distribution and retail services nationwide, except the borders of municipalities and assigned regions for concessionary companies. With the new structuring, “TEK 7th REGIONAL DIRECTORATE” began providing service to Adana, K.Maraş, G.Antep, Hatay, and Mersin provinces.
- 1982 - Pursuant to law no. 2705 dated 11.09.1982, “TEK TOROSLAR ELK. DAĞ. MÜES. MÜD.” began providing Electricity Distribution services to Adana, Mersin, Hatay provinces.
- 1990 - TEK was restructured and divided into two separate Public Economic Enterprises; namely TEAŞ (Türkiye Elektrik Üretim İletim A.Ş. – Turkish Electricity Generation and Transmission Corporation) and TEDAŞ (Türkiye Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. – Turkish Electricity Distribution Company) with the decision of the Council of Ministers numbered 93/4789.
- 2005 - The company continued its operations as “TOROSLAR ELEKTRİK DAĞITIM A.Ş.”, which consisted of Adana, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kilis, Mersin, Osmaniye Electricity Distribution Institutions.
- 2013 - Enerjisa, a partnership of Sabancı Holding and E.ON, was awarded the tender for the acquisition of all shares of Toroslar Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. for US $1,725 million on March 15, 2013. On October 1, 2013, Enerjisa took over all the shares of Toroslar Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş.
- 2014 - A framework agreement was signed by and between Enerjisa and E.ON on April 15, 2014. As part of the agreement, Enerjisa and E.ON agreed to provide management, consultancy, engineering, auditing and other services to each other and their affiliates (including distribution and retail companies of Enerjisa) when requested.
- 2018 - The shares of Enerjisa Enerji A.Ş., which was the largest public offering of Sabancı Holding and the first public offering in Turkey in energy distribution field, were started trading on Borsa Istanbul on February 8 with ENJSA code.
Today, Toroslar EDAŞ uninterruptedly continues its electricity distribution services at significant regions in Turkey at international quality standards by adopting an innovative approach.
