Putting all its efforts to provide uninterrupted electricity supply in Gaziantep, Toroslar EDAŞ initiated an 8.4 million TL project to put the electricity lines at the Değirmiçem Neighbourhood of Şehitkâmil sub-province underground.
Thanks to the project, overhead lines carried on concrete poles constructed during 1980s are being put underground, while all measures are taken to minimise power failures and breakdown periods.
The project, which has a budget of 8,392,000 TL, includes renovation of 7 substation buildings and installation of 241 lighting poles. Moreover, 119 site distribution boxes will be installed; and 25-km-long LV and 8-km-long HV cables will be laid.
Endeavouring 24/7 for a better-lit Gaziantep, Toroslar EDAŞ has increased the installed substation capacity by 70 percent and underground grid length by 300 percent since its privatisation in 2013 to provide a higher quality and uninterrupted energy in Gaziantep.
During the 5-year tariff period covering the years between 2016 and 2020, Toroslar EDAŞ installed 3,637-km-long electricity grid in Gaziantep. 55 percent of the grid, which corresponds to 1,980 km, is composed of underground electric lines.
As a result of these investments, while the ratio of underground lines to total lines is around 23 percent all around Turkey, this percentage has been increased to 32 percent in Gaziantep.
Toroslar EDAŞ will sustain its maintenance works and investments in Gaziantep.
